Long time Tahoe resident, Marion Elizabeth Morse Hale, passed away on June 21st, 2012 at the age of 93 with her daughter's Laurie, Ivy, and Holly and Holly's husband, Adam by her side. She passed peacefully with grace and dignity in the home that she and her husband had built in 1953. She was born on June 5th 1919 in New York City to John and Florence Morse. She attended Professional Children's School for actors in Manhattan. As a child she modeled for McFadden's Department Store. At twelve, she performed at Carnegie Hall and won 1st place in her piano recital competition. She later worked for New York University. She moved out west in 1946 where she met her husband Eugene L. Hale. They were married on June 5th, 1947 in Reno, Nevada. Marion and Gene called square dancing from Reno, Nevada to Bishop, California and South Lake Tahoe. In 1953 they moved to the lake where Gene became Tahoe's first year-round barber. Marion was involved in many activities: a volunteer for the Barton Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Treasurer of the Sunshine Gal's Bowling League, Vice President of the Community Concert Association, and for many years she was the Precinct Five Elections Judge. She worked for the El Dorado County Welfare Department from 1970 until she retired in 1981. She attended Sierra Baptist (Community) Church and Calvary Chapel until her health no longer permitted it. But of all her accomplishments, her greatest achievement was her love for God, her amazing love and daily prayers for each family member as well as all her friends and even those she barely knew, and all those that came to know Him because of her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene in 1994 and her parents, John and Florence Morse. She is survived by her sons; John Hale, Dean Hale (Susan), and daughters; Laurie Newman (Gordon), Holly Weber (Adam), and Ivy Sandstrom (John), her 17 grandchildren and by her 15 great grandchildren.
