Charles John Sandlin

South Lake Tahoe, California

In Loving Memory of Charles John Sandlin

Charles John Sandlin, age 76, passed away on June 8, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a community that knew him as a hardworking man who was never afraid of a day’s work.

Charles was born on February 8, 1950, in Huntington Park, California. While he was born in Southern California, South Lake Tahoe became his true home. He spent most of his adult life there, building a business, raising a family, and creating a life that reflected his determination and independence.

Charles proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. The discipline, resilience, and strong work ethic he carried throughout his life were qualities shaped in part by his military service.

For more than 40 years, Charles owned and operated his drywall business in the Lake Tahoe area. He was known for his craftsmanship, reliability, and willingness to work hard. Many homes and buildings throughout the community stand as a testament to the work of his hands and the pride he took in doing a job right.

Of all the things Charles accomplished in his life, his greatest pride was his family. He raised his daughters, Jessica Sandlin of Troy, Texas, and Jamie Pietrowski of South Lake Tahoe, California, to be strong, independent, and resilient women. He taught them to work hard, stand on their own two feet, and keep going no matter what life put in front of them.

Charles was especially proud of his grandchildren, David Austin and Angelica Austin of Troy, Texas. He loved watching them grow and took every opportunity to brag about their accomplishments. Nothing made him smile quite like talking about his grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Marion Markard of Evans, Colorado, and his brother, Frank Sandlin of Gardnerville, Nevada.

Charles wasn’t a man of grand speeches. He showed his love through hard work, by providing for his family, and by always doing what needed to be done. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, and dedication that will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and everyone whose life he touched.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
